The Panther King's Revenge
A squirrel's quest for a hangover cure spirals into a murderous, cheese-fueled vendetta against a panther with mommy issues.
The Panther King's Revenge is a story-driven campaign mode in the 2001 video game Conker's Bad Fur Day, developed by Rare. It serves as the central narrative of the game, following the titular red squirrel Conker as he navigates a darkly comedic and often absurd world. The campaign is known for its mature humor, fourth-wall-breaking moments, and parodies of other video games and films.

Lore & Background
The Panther King is the tyrannical ruler of the game's world, a giant, anthropomorphic panther with a penchant for violence and a deep-seated grudge against Conker. Their feud originates from an off-screen incident where Conker inadvertently insulted the King's mother, leading to a series of increasingly elaborate and deadly schemes against the squirrel. The King's motivations are rooted in petty vengeance, but his actions escalate into full-scale warfare, involving his army of Tediz (teddy bear soldiers) and other bizarre minions.
In Their Own Story
Conker wakes up with a skull-splitting hangover, his house trashed, and a Dear John note from his girlfriend Berri. He stumbles outside, still tasting last night's regret, only to be tackled by a squad of Tediz—cuddly-looking teddy bears with machine guns—and dragged before the Panther King. The King, lounging on a throne of actual skulls, sneers, 'You thought you could insult my mother and get away with it, you little red rat?' Conker, rubbing his throbbing head, mutters, 'I don't even remember your mother, mate.' The King's eyes narrow. 'That's the insult!' he roars, and hurls Conker into a slimy dungeon, kicking off a campaign that lurches from one deranged set piece to the next.
Reader's Guide
The campaign kicks off with Conker escaping the dungeon and stumbling through a series of increasingly unhinged chapters, each a loving parody of a video game genre or film. He accidentally becomes a messiah to a tribe of dim-witted cavemen, has a heart-to-heart with a suicidal scarecrow named Greg (who just wants to be a scarecrow, damn it), and belts out a duet with a giant opera-singing bat. The plot escalates into an all-out war against the Panther King's army of Tediz, culminating in a final showdown where Conker wields a giant, sentient piece of cheddar as a weapon. He tricks the King into plummeting into a pit of his own design, and the game ends with Conker crowned king—but the throne is cold, the hall is empty, and the victory tastes like ash, a bleak punchline about the emptiness of revenge.
